— Summerland, BC

It’s been a long journey for Haywire Wines from a wintry morning in 2005 in Summerland when they slogged through the snow at below-freezing temperatures to tour an old orchard for sale on the corner of the picturesque Fosbery and Switchback Roads. Their wine style has been shaped by the talented Matt Dumayne, working with David Scholefield. They also consider themselves very fortunate to be working with consulting winemaker Alberto Antonini. Alberto, who makes wine in several regions of the world, visits throughout the year for several action-packed days. It all started with their home vineyard, Switchback, that received its organic certification in August 2015 after four intense years of converting it from conventional farming. Their 312-acre Garnet Valley Ranch, purchased in fall of 2012, currently has 30 acres planted and has been farmed organically since day one. We purchased the 50-acre Secrest Mountain Vineyard in Oliver in the spring of 2018, and are hoping to certify that vineyard by the spring of 2019 after five years of organic farming practices.

The environmentally friendly cultivation of our vines is an important factor in our quality-oriented thinking and action. At the end of the vegetation and ripening cycle, the wines are unmistakably fine-grained, dry and mineral.

The Rattis were among the pioneers of single vineyard Barolos, and today the winery’s renowned single vineyard Barolos Conca and Rocche dell’Annunziata are internationally applauded for their unsurpassed terroir-driven complexity and depth, and Ratti’s Barolo Marcenasco is acclaimed by the world’s top critics as one Barolo’s most outstanding wines.

The town of Entrena and our vineyards are located on the right bank of the Ebro River. From the right bank, north-northeast positions dominate most parts of our vineyards. We cultivate and harvest by hand Tempranillo, Garnacha, Mazuelo, and Mazuelo for red wines and Viura for our white wine.

Celler Jan Vidal is located in the heart of the Penedès area, near Barcelona. It was established in 1970 and produces a selection of Cava’s and fine wines. Their motto is Tradition, Culture, Elegance. Quality is the family’s main focus with sustainable viticultural practices and hand selected grapes. They honour tradition by working with indigenous grape varieties to produce unique sparkling wines made in the traditional methods.

Appellation-specific California white wines that pair well with Asian cuisines. The Banyan philosophy is to use only sustainable and/or organically farmed grapes from vineyards in regions with microclimates ideally suited for the particular variety.

Boomtown by Dusted Valley offers varietal specific wines with one goal - to over deliver. In 2003, Wisconsin natives Chad Johnson and Corey Braunel left the comforts of their corporate jobs to move to Walla Walla and fulfill their dream of crafting world-class wine. Combining Washington State grapes with their rough and tumble know-how and a sizeable piece of their souls, the family created Dusted Valley and Boomtown.

The Folk Machine was created in 2005 to primarily be a home for Pinot Noir, but is now also the main venue for our more esoteric line of wines, including biodynamically and organically farmed Syrah, Carignan, Grenache, and Barbera.

The Hobo Wine Company is the brainchild, side job, menace to the wine industry, hedged bet, cash strain, mental anguish, late night musing, bruised hands, dirty t-shirts, and constant companion of Kenny Likitprakong. Despite knowing better, he started his own label in 2002 with the simple idea to have some good fun. Instead of becoming a hobo, Kenny became a “Hobo Winemaker.” With no winery, no vineyards, no truck, no warehouse, no employees, Kenny started making wine.

Senses Wines produces Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from world-class vineyards throughout the Sonoma Coast and Russian River Valley AVAs. Founded in 2011, Senses is a dream-come-true for three childhood friends from Occidental who began farming their families’ vineyards at just 22 years old. In partnership with renowned winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown, the Senses team produces outstanding single vineyard and appellation wines, of which the 2016 vintage recently received 95+ points from Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate.
